Outstanding volunteer award nominees sought

The Volunteer Center of Racine County, Inc. is seeking nominations of outstanding volunteers in twelve categories. The winners will be recognized at the eighth annual Volunteer Recognition Awards luncheon on Friday, April 16, at the Racine Marriott.

The categories are

Agriculture Award, sponsored by CNH North America Region – recognizes an individual who volunteers to serve others (people, animals, earth) in the agricultural arena.
Arts & Culture Award, sponsored by Twin Disc., Inc. – recognizes an individual who demonstrates excellence in the area of arts and culture through volunteerism.
Economic Development Award, Sponsored by Midwest Paralegal Services, Inc. – recognizes an individual who has fostered community development and sustainability in Racine County through volunteerism.
Education Award, sponsored by Educators Credit Union - recognizes an individual who demonstrates a positive learning experience and impacts another person(s) through volunteerism and a commitment to education.
Environment Award, sponsored by Modine Manufacturing Company – recognizes an individual who has voluntarily given of him or herself to better our community by sustaining our natural surroundings and preserving our environment for the future.
Good Neighbor Award, sponsored by State Farm Insurance – recognizes an individual who quietly helps his or her neighbor or neighborhood and voluntarily assists to make life/area better.
Health Services Award, sponsored by Fredrick and Deborah Ganaway – recognizes an individual who volunteers to serve others by giving his or her time in the health serving arena.
Heroic Award, sponsored by Volunteer Center of Racine County’s Board of Directors – recognizes someone’s courageous volunteer actions in the midst of a traumatic or devastating event or situation.
Human Services Award, sponsored by Racine Dominicans – recognizes an individual who volunteers to serve others by improving the quality of life for others in our community.
Senior Award, sponsored by Styberg Foundation – recognizes an individual, who is 55 plus, and has demonstrated excellence by giving of him or herself and volunteering in our community.
Youth Award, sponsored by Johnson Bank – recognizes young people K-College who have selflessly volunteered to better our community through service to an individual(s) or organization.
Veteran Award, sponsored by Tri City National Bank – recognizes a veteran who has continued to serve his or her community and nation through service.

Nominees will be evaluated based on volunteer accomplishments (length of service, organizations served); impact on an individual, group or community; and leadership position (integrity, dedication, motivation).
