Zoovies ranges into outer space for E.T.

On Friday, July 18, the Racine Zoo will host its second Zoovies film, the beloved classic, E.T.: The Extra-Terrestrial.

Steven Spielberg’s 1982 Oscar winner will be shown on a theater-sized movie screen at the Kiwanis Memorial Amphitheater at the Zoo. The presentation begins at dusk.

“Thirty-somethings might remember this film for the introduction of Reeses Pieces candy and E.T.’s rewiring of the Speak and Spell to attempt to communicate with his homeland,” says Jay Christie, Zoo president and CEO.

E.T.: The Extra-Terrestrial is the second of three movies that will be featured at the zoo this summer. The final film, to be shown on Friday, Aug. 15, is Bee Movie.

Admission is free for Racine Zoo members and $1 for Educators Credit Union members. Other admissions are: $4 for adults 16 years and older, $2 for children 3-15 years old, and children under 3 are free.

During the movie, popcorn, beverages, and candy will be available for purchase. Zoovie-goers are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets.
