Miss Spider's Tea Party wraps up 'reading bug'

Update: "Miss Spider's Tea Party" has been rescheduled for Friday, Aug. 1 from 1:30-2:30 p.m. to accommodate the visit by presidential candidate John McCain, who will be next door at Memorial Hall.

Over 1,500 library patrons have "Caught the Reading Bug" in the 200 8 Summer Reading Challenge at the Racine Public Library, 75 Seventh St., From June through Aug. 2, patrons have been challenged to read a certain number of books and to visit the library as many times as they can. Besides the rewards of reading great books for great fun, participants have earned entries into the library's summer reading grand prize drawing to be held on Aug. 4.

The library will end the 2008 Summer Reading Challenge with "Miss Spider's Tea Party," a wrap-up event for kids ages 5-12 on Thursday, July 31, from 1:30-2:30 p.m. in the Youth Services
Dept. The event will feature stories, crafts, games and a party with "Miss Spider," the beloved character from Daniel Kirk's popular picture book series.
