Brubeck Brothers next at Animal Crackers

The Brubeck Brothers Quartet will perform at the Racine Zoo on Wednesday, July 23, as art of the Animal Crackers Concert Series. Tickets are $20; gates open at 5:30 p.m. with the concert beginning at 7 p.m.

The quartet’s style is rooted in “straight ahead” jazz, but their concerts reveal an ability to explore, integrating the influences of funk, blues and world music. “They are probably the most traditional jazz group in the line-up. Their commitment to the jazz genre and their family history is to be respected and enjoyed,” said David Maack, president of the Animal Crackers Committee.

The series continues Aug. 6 with a performance by Poncho Sanchez, percussionist and band leader, and concludes on Aug. 20, with John Pizzarelli, son of legendary guitar legend Bucky Pizzarelli.

All concerts are rain or shine. Over the past 22 years, Animal Crackers fans have supported the Racine Zoo with nearly $550,000.
