Twang Dragons to sing at Dragon Boat Festival

The Twang Dragons will perform on Saturday, July 12, at 5 p.m. at the fifth annual Great Midwest Dragon Boat Festival at Samuel Myers Park, across from Gateway Technical College.

Want to have a rip-roarin', down and dirty, greasy good time? You want to see the Twang Dragons. They’ve been tearing up stages big and small for a while now, with self-penned tunes that fall somewhere between Johnny Cash and Tom Petty. Or think maybe John Hiatt or Steve Earle meets Chrissie Hynde if she sang all twangy-like.

Critics have called their music such things as “a little bit country, a little bit fire-breathin' serpentine grooving rocker” and “a combination of professional chops and let-it-all-hang-out abandon.” But whatever you call it, it's performed by musicians who write it and play it like they mean it.

And yes, they also toss in some select covers by some folks you'll recognize and others you might not – but should. From the man in black to criminally under-appreciated talents like Robbie Fulks, John Sieger and Lucinda Williams.
