The fourth Soul Talk, Behind the Veil... Hypermasculinity, will take place on May 31, from 6 to 8:30 p.m. in the YMCA's MPR Room, 725 Lake Avenue.Jamel Garrett said, "It is my conviction that this will be our best Soul Talk because it is a strong factor as to why you have so much violence in American culture, and specifically the inner city. African-American males specifically have internalized the images on B.E.T. and music videos to such an extent that they have based their lives on caricatured personalities. Homophobia, the desire to be hard, paranoia has deeply set in because of hypermasculinity."
